Basil & Grant: A Warm Winter Wedding in Washington DC

Washington, D.C. was built with the specific purpose of bringing awe to its visitors.  But sometimes, especially when you live near it, it takes a little magic and a little bit of vision to remember that, and to make the experiences of this beautiful city one’s own.

Basil and Grant had that vision, and definitely that magic.  After saying adieu to their sweet pup Bert for the afternoon, they hired a car to drive them around the city’s monuments during a whirlwind tour of the city on the morning of their wedding.  As a couple that loves and appreciates the DC area, they took their time enjoying the beautiful sunny December afternoon, wandering the columns of the Lincoln and Jefferson and taking in the soft waterfalls of the FDR, all the while pausing to contemplate the powerful words preserved in granite and marble for all time—as well as their own place in our nation’s recent history.  Their journey culminated at the D.C. Court House.  There, they met with friends for an intimate ceremony in the court’s new wedding chamber.

The following evening, they held their reception with all of their friends in the relaxed upstairs event space at Bourbon, an Adams Morgan restaurant where Basil and Grant enjoy brunch every weekend.  Basil and Grant chatted with friends and danced while bartenders lit orange peels aflame for top shelf cocktails.

We always encourage couples to embrace and showcase who they are every day, and especially on their wedding day. These two authentic gentlemen were driven to do just that!
